Mark Calabrese, Traditional Designs owner and master craftsman, built his first kitchen in 1979 and after working with master craftsmen in Sweden for several years, he returned to Vermont in 1987 and opened Traditional Design. Since 1989, the Skinner Barn in Waitsfield has been home to his millwork and custom cabinetry enterprise.
Mark's designs reflect the traditional Vermont architectural style of the Greek Revival and Federal period. His design work is influenced by Scandinavian, Craftsman, and Shaker styles.
"My goals for every kitchen are functionality, durability, and high quality craftsmanship. I have a great love of cooking and understand the working aspects of a well-designed kitchen."
Traditional Design uses only the highest quality materials and employs traditional and modern joinery methods.
Mark's other interests include: gardening, kayaking, camping, hiking, snowshoeing, skiing and playing music. Mark lives in Warren with his wife Susan and their dog Eddy.
Bill Doenges has worked at Traditonal Design since 2007. Bill was born in Vermont and grew up in Moretown. He graduated from Harwood Union High School in Duxbury in1999 and Colby Sawyer College in New London, New Hampshire in 2003 with a degree in Environmental Science. He worked in the construction industry prior to working at Traditional Design. Bill enjoys skiing, hiking, camping and any outdoor activity. Bill lives in Waitsfield with his wife Whitney and their dog Maisy.
